Bruges Foundation becomes owner of La Brugeoise portico with a view to Restoration

On 17 April 2024, Brugge Foundation became the owner of the monumental La Brugeoise entrance porch, an important architectural and landscape element in the street wall of Baron Ruzettelaan.

This monumental portico is one of the rare overt witnesses to the industrial history of the city of Bruges.

The former La Brugeoise company - now Alstom - was and still is a global player in the field of (train and tram) mobility. As a symbol of that rich past, this portico tells the story of the company and its role as an employer in the Bruges region, as well as of its employees and the neighbourhood.
The La Brugeoise portico urgently needs our help. A lack of care resulted in neglect and damage to the monument.

Bruges Foundation is committed to restoring this building, preferably with your help.
