In addition to being an exceptional architectural site, the World Heritage Site Beguinage in Bruges is an idyllic place with a very specific charm and character, visited by thousands of visitors every year. But how do you manage this kind of heritage, how does this site move into the future?
Bruges Foundation realised an informative exhibition in the courtyard of Begijnhof 1 in spring 2024.
With this project, Bruges Foundation aims to provide a wide range of visitors with interpretation on the history, the role of the beguines in the Bruges context, the special material but also immaterial heritage value of the Beguinage, and the unique 'spirit of the place'.
The exhibition is formatted in Dutch. Via a QR code, you can also listen or read the content on smartphones in other European languages.
